We are looking for a fast learning, passionate backend engineer to be part of our engineering team. Our mission is to empower long-term patient access to the best treatment through smart, simple and transparent solutions. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare accessibility. You’ll be a technical leader on the team, driving architectural decisions, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. Your contributions will directly impact millions of users by maintaining high-quality, scalable, and innovative solutions. You’ll own end-to-end feature development, ensuring that our solutions meet business and user needs. The ideal candidate has built scalable APIs, deployed and maintained backend micro services and can work independently in fast-paced environments. You should be comfortable learning new technologies as needed. 

Responsibilities

• Be a team player, collaborate, and learn from those around you. 
• Write clean, fast, compatible, easy-to-use, and testable code. 
• Contribute and maintain documentation both within the codebase and in an external documentation site. 
• Mentor and be mentored by other engineers by leading and collaborating in all engineering discussions and evangelizing engineering best practices. 
• Own, create, and review technical design proposals and proof of concepts. 
• Maintain an understanding of the business requirements and work closely with stakeholders to understand what they need and why. 
• Make smart engineering and product decisions based on data analysis and collaboration. 
• Help improve engineering standards and processes. 
• Bring an agile, iterative, and curious mindset to every challenge. 
• Be a subject matter expert for others both in your squad and beyond. 
• Collaborate, learn, and grow. 
• Participate in production support rotations and lead incident investigation and resolution.

Requirements

• 5+ years of demonstrable Python development experience. 
• 3–5 years of demonstrable GoLang development experience. 
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases. 
• Deep knowledge of the HTTP request/response lifecycle, including concepts such as request methods, status codes, headers, cookies, caching behavior, and how different clients and servers handle these exchanges.
• Experience writing micro services from the ground up. 
• Experience in driving and participating in architecture discussions and decisions. 
• Experience providing production support and incident debugging and resolution with a sense of urgency. 

Nice to have

• Experience with gRPC and protobuffs. 
• GraphQL development experience. 
• Kubernetes experience. 
• DataDog debugging, tracing and dashboard creation experience. 
• Direct experience working with databases such as PostgreSQL and RedShift. 
• This role focuses on delivering high-quality, production-ready backend systems.
